He turns 4!

I wanted to post that my big boy Brody turns 4 today!!! It's so bittersweet and so hard to grasp that just 4 years ago he was born. That time has gone by so quickly...and I know that the rest of his life will too!

Happy Birthday Baby!!!

Swine Flu?!!

Well I'm officially sick with some icky crud. I have a sore throat, headache and some serious sinus issues. It's nasty. Brody had it along with a fever for 4 days last week, and still is trying to recover (was diagnosed with an upper respiratory infection and an ear infection). So, now I get to fight it. Of course with the swine flu scare going on what is my first thoughts?! You betcha... do I have it?!!! I'm thinking NOT, but it's awfully scary stuff going around...so it's worth to keep an eye on it.

Not sure I posted but my husband is officially a P90X dropout. He says that we're too busy in the summer, and we should do it in the winter. SO...my plan is to just continue without him. Get up early and do it. BUT, since I've gotten sick, I just can't bring myself to do it. Once I'm feeling better though you know I'm back in gear!!!

That's all the updates for now :)

Week 1 COMPLETED!

That's right folks, hubby and I completed and survived Week 1 of P90X. We missed ONE measly workout, due to a funky Saturday (Yoga X), but I'd say that's pretty good. So, I know you're curious...I lost 5lbs! Yeppers .... 5 full pounds!!! Now, those 5lbs were recently regained, so sometimes those are easier to lose, but still I'm totally proud of myself for doing P90X AND losing 5lbs! YIPPIE!

Tonight is back to "Day 1" with Chest and back. Hubby has left the pull-up bar up all the time, so that I can whenever I want practice/try to do them. By the end of this 90 days I had BETTER be able to do at least 1!!! It's frustrating to me that I can't, and that I have to cheat with a stool. PHOOEY!

Eating is up to par, about 90% I say. I did have kind of a "free day" yesterday, but literally was mad at myself for it...and decided it's NOT worth it! When I say free day, I still journaled, still got my veggies in, and drank my water...I just made a poor food choice at lunch (Penn Station French fries!), and then had the munchies later where I ate a little too much. All in all it wasn't THAT bad...but I still didn't like it.

Well, until my next update....BRING IT :)

Day 5 of P90X

So yesterday we finished Day 5, legs and back. WOWZA! I'm afraid as the day goes on, my legs are going to be feeling it! Great work out though!!!

The diet part is going well. I'm not following the P90X plan strictly, but really trying hard to stay in the right categories. Still struggling with the carb elimination though. I made some really yummy chicken enchilada's last night...and they were light and healthy!!!

I will weigh in Wednesday (which will be over a week since I last weighed in on Monday), but I'll tell you I did weigh in today - just to see - and I'm totally happy :) Hoping this only continues!!!!

Sorry for the shortness...but I have plenty to do today! Will be back tomorrow to check back in!!!

Ouch!

That's right...OUCH! I'm aching ALL over today. It feels awesome. Yes, I just said that! I LOVE feeling this, well not actually the pain, but knowing what I'm doing is WORKING! Ouch - I just moved. Oooh, and don't make me laugh either - ouch. :)

Last night was tball practice. I hadn't premade dinner (bad idea)...so we didn't eat before heading out. Although, it's not like we get home in time to do much. It's basically changing the boys clothes, getting sippy cups ready, gathering equipment, hollering at the boys to come on...we've GOT to go! So, anyway... practice gets out at 7:30. By the time we roll back in the house it's almost 8! The boys go to bed at 8. Umm...dinner's not ready yet, or even started! Needless to say they had Spaghettio's and hot dogs (I know, what sorts of things am I teaching my kiddos?!). They played for a bit while I fixed a new recipe courtesy of the hungry-girl, put that in the oven...and then they got ready for bed. After the bedtime ritual of reading books, singing songs, back tickeling, hubby and I sat down to eat our meal. As we were eating we were thinking maybe we should wait until AFTER the workout. Good thinking...but too late now. We gave our tummy's about 30 - 45 mins to rest before we cranked out Day 2 of P90X - Plyometrics... the mother of all X workouts! Gulp...yeah, we should have waited to eat dinner...because every jump I wondered if I could handle it with all that was sitting in my belly! haha! Plyometrics is a jump training... and holy smokes was it a lot of jumping!! But, we did it...we survived day 2! Way to go us!!

So tonight is shoulders and arms...and I'm thinking how am I going to be able to do this...as I'm still so sore from the chest and back workout!!! By the way, I skipped a cardio workout at the gym today. I'm just not feeling it ... OUCH is about all I'm feeling!!!!

Eating is good...but again I worry about my connection with WW. I mean, it's been drilled in my head "Eat less, move more". And P90X wants you to eat more. According to X I should eat about 1800 calories (GULP!), and that would be way over the points for me. Yesterday I consumed 25pts which was about 1400 calories. 25pts is above my 21 daily allowance, but with the exercise I'm going to think it weighs out about right (yeah, did I tell you I did cardio kickboxing on my lunch hour yesterday too?!). I'm going to give it a few weeks and see if I need to tweak this even more. Because I'm not eating enough calories for the X, but I'm over in points. So...we shall see.

Okay...Day 3 here we come....

I'm back...and P90X

So, it's been too long since my last post. Life has been absolutely crazy. We finally moved into our new home (after 10 long months!), and things are settling down. I now am ready and have no excuse to get on track and get where I want to be.

In the midst of the chaos the last oh...month, I managed to gain 10lbs. Nice. WRONG WAY MANDIE! So, I now am 20lbs heavier than my lowest. Ugh. More work cut out for me. But, when I saw the number on the scale on Monday (Wed is my actual weigh day, but this week I decided to know on Monday) I knew it was time to really focus and get back in the groove. *side note that it amazes me how easy is it to gain 10-20lbs, but how extremely difficult it is to LOSE it! Phooey!*

On Monday I was ready. Well, actually it started Sunday night. I cooked 2 of my week's meals, so I wouldn't have to worry about it! That was super nice!! And Wednesday's meal was in the crockpot (which unfortunately was overcooked. I always forget that I'm gone for 10+ hours, and can't shut the crockpot off at 6-7 hours like most recipes require). Tonight I didn't prepare ahead of time (which I should have since it's my sons tball practice night), but I'm not too worried about it. I do need to finish up the weekend menu...any ideas anyone???

So besides meal planning and cooking (which helps me stay on track!!) my husband and I started P90X on Wednesday! We both agreed back in January (?) that when we moved into the new house we would do it together. Well, we've been at the house 2 weeks now, so it is time!

Day 1 was Chest, Shoulders, Back for 60 mins, and then 15 mins of Ab Ripper X. Ouch! But we did it...and I'm proud of us. We took our before pictures, and will be taking 30, 60 and 90 day pictures as well.

I'm trying to follow the nutrition plan as much as I can, while still doing WW. I'm not sure how it will work though. P90X is about getting the RIGHT FOODS, and unfortuantely higher calories. I'm used to taking in LESS calories to lose weight. So, it's going to be tricky and experimental. I am at least focusing on the food groups and trying to niche it to work for me.

I'm also adding more cardio in to the plan. I think cardio is a huge factor for losing fat/weight...and P90X doesn't do cardio every day. *This is another reason I really need to work hard on my nutrition...if I'm not careful I could have reverse effects by not eating enough and the right things.* Today at lunch I will head over to a Cardio Kickboxing class (45mins), and then tonight is Ploymetrics (which will be cardio too). It's all so exciting .... but remember, I've only made it 1 day! I (we) have 89 more to go!!! GULP!!!
